The Machine Shop manufactures parts that meet the high, exacting expectations of our customers. The products you manufacture will be found on luxury yachts around the world.
 
Working in a team with over 200 years of machining expertise you will learn to work safely within a machine shop, understanding the basic principles of machining and progress to more advanced engineering techniques as you develop your skills and experience.
 
Developing your skills in:
 
•      Working safely within a busy machine shop within company Health and Safety guidelines
•      General machine shop skills
•      Reading and understanding production drawings
•      Use of measuring equipment to accurately measure components
•      Producing components to required tolerances 
•      Producing parts for multiple product types such as winch, glass, hatch and custom
•      Use of mills and lathes in a safe and efficient manner.
•      Setting and operating CNC mills and lathes
•      Programming of components on CNC mills and lathes

Due to planned new product development we require the following Systems Engineer to enhance the fast moving design team, based in Havant.
 
The systems design team at Lewmar are responsible for design and support of systems that power and control Lewmar products.
 
We are looking for a Hydraulics System Designer to join this very busy team with prospects of broadening their skills base and experience.
 
Primarily designing and developing hydraulic systems for custom built yachts, you will take projects from initial design specifications, having responsibility for new circuit design of custom hydraulic circuits and ensuring that they are perfectly matched to applications on the yacht.
 
The designs will involve the selection of both fixed and variable displacement pumps, and specification of motors and valves to suit each application. You will be familiar with hydraulic reservoir design, using both AC and DC mounted pump motors. You will be able to calculatea circuit performance and create a cost effective solution.
 
We would like you to be educated to Degree / HNC level in mechanical engineering with further training and qualifications in hydraulics. You are likely to have a background in mobile and/or industrial hydraulics, modular industrial valves, proportional load sense valves and pumps mounted to engine power take off.
 
You must be used to working to tight deadlines, and have the flexibility to manage several projects at one time.
 
The design process will be CAD based, so you should have an excellent understanding of AutoCAD and some exposure to 3D CAD would be preferential. You will also be involved with keeping modification control and utilising modern design office practices.
 
Alongside trouble-shooting of existing systems, you will be expected to carry out testing of newly designed systems within our in-house test facility and, at times, short periods of overseas travel may be required.
 
Your starting salary will be commensurate to your skill level and will be competitive. Managing a small team of Design Engineers, the role will involve managing day-to-day engineering projects and new product development (NPD) for Mechanical products.

Roles and Responsibilities 

•    Actively manage day-to-day engineering tasks to ensure the output of engineering information meets the agreed deadlines and maintained to a high standard. 

•    Actively manage AOP (Annual Operating Plan) projects to ensure they run to agreed timescales and deadlines. 

•    Ensure that the engineering team are fully aware of and perform to the agreed timescales and deadlines above. 

•    Liaise with the Sales, Purchasing & Operations departments to ensure the correct information is being used to drive business systems eg. BOMs etc 

•    Technical support to ensure that all new designs use best engineering practice, are comprehensively tested and comply with best practice for DFM (design for manufacture)

We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer into our dynamic, fast paced Design Office which thrives on its culture of new product development and designing bespoke solutions.
 
We require a skilled and well-rounded Designer with exposure to many different manufacturing processes, whilst making sure their products are designed to be aesthetically pleasing.
 
Main Responsibilities

•    Full Product ownership – Design Concept to production release
